What does that mean?

The AFTA Travel Accreditation Scheme (ATAS) is an industry accreditation scheme that sets the benchmark of quality for the travel industry.

AFTA is committed, through ATAS, to elevating travel industry standards in Australia by driving increased and continued participation by travel intermediaries in ATAS and raising consumer awareness of the benefits of booking travel through an ATAS accredited agent.

AFTA Chargeback Scheme (ACS)

AFTA Chargeback Scheme (ACS) is available to ATAS accredited travel agencies and provides protection against consumer debit and credit card chargebacks which result from supplier insolvency.

The Scheme has been established as a member focused non-profit organisation.

How does the Scheme work?

There are no upfront insurance premiums for you to pay. When you choose to pay by credit card, a portion of the fee will be used to pay the ACS contribution, which will be held by the fund to cover any losses incurred in the event of a chargeback resulting from supplier failure.
